Jcpenney Optical - Their $99 special is a bate and switch
I decided to go to the Penny's optical in Puyallup and the sales person there was very friendly and helpful. I did have to pay more for my glasses because their selection for the special was minimal, but they were still less than most places.
As yet I have not gotten a call from customer relations about my complaint. It is very disappointing that I had to drive 45 minutes in traffic to the other Penny's, because the girls I encountered at the Tacoma Penny's were so rude and unhelpful.
I went to the Tacoma Mall Penny's to purchase glasses. I don't have insurance for eye care so I went for their $99 dollar special.
First you have to find a frame that is under 100, of which there is very few. most are $120 and up. When I finally did find a pair. she said they were to small for bifocals.
The pair I already had was the same size and I had bifocals in them. she said if I wanted to pay $60 more they could do it. I said if they can do it then why are you charging extra? she said they had to use a different lens.
I agreed to pay more because there was no other glasses I liked for that price because there were so few. I wanted the same frames for both pair and when she looked them up she said they only had one pair. I was beginning to think that this $99 special was a way to get you in, just to have you end up paying more because they don't even have the glasses that they display. When I asked to talk to the manager, to my surprise she was the gal sitting behind me, talking to a friend the whole time I was there and only 2 feet away.
She never stopped talking to her friend to even address my concerns. When I insisted I talk to her she turned around and asked what the problem was. I told her and she said I could take my business elsewhere if I wasn't happy. I could not believe this is how they treat a customer.
I believe they did not care if they made a sale or not because they knew I was there for the special. I am guessing it is rare for anyone to actually get the special. I also found out that they have no association with penny's, they just rent the space and the Penny's name. When I called U.S.
vision their parent company, she said they sell the frames that are on the display and they probably did not have a second pair in the back. REALLY, I do not want a pair of glasses that everyone has been trying on for who knows how long. I thought when you ordered glasses you got a new pair. Apparently not with penny's optical.
Everything about how they run their business was very odd to me. I was so very disappointed.
