HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE: I had made an appt. for an eye exam because they had a great offer through the store credit card.

The Eye Dr texted the night before to change my time and the texts went back and forth. I had gotten confused with all of the texts and thought we had agreed on 12:30 when it was actually 12:00 so when I was on my way he called me and was very annoyed I apologized and said that I had gotten confused with all of the texts and that I could reschedule for another day, he said no it's fine I was there by 12:15. But when I got there he was obviously still annoyed and was very rude. Every question he asked was short he would not make eye contact and sighed constantly.

He asked if I had had an eye exam before I said yes a year and a half ago and he said well what was the result did you bring the results I said that I didn't and he then called Pearle to ask if they had the results and was told that they don't because of a recent computer update. He really seemed annoyed by that. I said why not just act as though I haven't had an eye exam and treat me like a first time exam(I'm not sure why I didn't walk out except that my readers were not cutting it at work and I had run over my glasses from Pearle and really needed bifocals). He continued to be very rude until I finally said that he seemed very annoyed and that I would prefer to leave rather then be treated so rudely.

He then lightened up little and got the exam done. I then went to pick out glasses with what seemed like a very nice and well informed man and was unable to get any prices on frames when I asked about the prices he said just pick out the ones you like and kept handing me frames he had a good eye for what looked best on me but still would not tell me the prices( which worried me) I found a pair that I liked and he then said that you get sunglasses free with your Penneys card. I picked those out, he measured for fit and we went over the extras like scratch resistance etc. which I only added the scratch resistant.

When he finally gave me a total it was $700.00. I was shocked it's like this guy was trying to make the entire day's sales and commission on me because they don't get much business there. We have "NYS of Health" insurance and have no coverage for any of this which I told both of them. This guy is a fast talker and a Salesman with no conscience.

Stay away from Penneys Optical this Eye Dr covers many Penneys locations in the NY area. In this economy you need a salesperson that helps you to find what you need within your budget. That's what keeps customers coming back to you. JC Penneys lack of regard for the customers that have kept them in business in Poughkeepsie for a long time are what is going to put them out of business for good!

I realize sales is what keeps this store in business but being dishonest and sneaky in this economy is not going to work anymore.

People can't afford these inflated sales and high store credit card interest rates. Either adjust to the economy and how people are struggling and retrain your employees to give a *** and to better read their customers or close up shop!
